SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Marauders rolled into Shippensburg looking to make it back-to-back victories after downing Seton Hill a week prior. They did just that, taking down the Raiders 63-52 in comfortable fashion for their first PSAC East win of the campaign.

The visitors set the tone early on, forcing multiple turnovers in the first period and then attacking on the fastbreak. The Marauders forced seven Raider giveaways in the first six minutes which led to multiple high-percentage opportunities at the rim on the ensuing runout. They would finish with nine in the period compared to just five for the visitors.

Millersville was able to distance itself midway through the second quarter with an 8-0 run featuring two baskets each from Brenna Ortwein and La'Shyra Williams. Williams was especially effective in the first half, going six-of-seven from the field for 12 points. Jabria Ingram closed out her strong first half by beating the buzzer on a two-point jump shot, giving her eight points on perfect shooting and Millersville a 31-22 advantage.

Scoring for both teams opened up in the second half. Marauder scoring leader Makiah Shaw extended their lead a few seconds after the break with her first basket of the contest, an eight-foot jump shot. Shaw would finish one point and one rebound short of a double-double. They kept the lead in double-digits for the remainder of the quarter, even extending it to 15 by its conclusion.

The Ville's dominance continued into the fourth and they were able to take the game 63-52. They held advantages in a few key statistical categories, namely points in the paint, points off of turnovers, and field goal percentage. Coming into the contest Millersville was 1-6 when scoring fewer points in the paint than its opponent, 1-8 when recording fewer points off of turnovers than its opponent, and 1-6 when shooting worse from the field than their opponent.

GAME NOTES

With the win, Millersville moves into a tie with West Chester for third place in the PSAC East standings. The Golden Rams defeated Shepherd earlier today.
The Marauders tallied their fiftieth win in this rivalry's storied history, and their record against the Raiders moves to 50-55. They'll have a chance to get win number 51 later this season when they host Shippensburg on Feb. 7.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

La'Shyra Williams and Jabria Ingram led the way again for the Marauders. Williams finished with a season-high 22 points on 90% shooting while Ingram had 12 points and a team-high six assists.
It is the first time this season Millersville has won back-to-back games. Previously, they were 0-3 after a win.

Overall thoughts: "A win in the East is a great start for these young women. They are doing a great job of allowing me to challenge them and that's why we've made improvements."
On the run that gave them the lead: "Runs are going to happen in every game. In the past we've allowed teams to hit shots on us and continue those runs. When the other team hits a big shot like Shippensburg did today, we have to come back with a great play and execute."
