Defending PSAC Champions picked to win east in 2022

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The men's soccer coaches of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its preseason polls for the eastern and western divisions Wednesday afternoon. Millersville, the three-time defending conference champions, recived five first-place votes and were picked to finish atop the eastern division in 2022. In the west, Mercyhurst and Gannon each received three first-place votes and were selected as co-favorites.

West Chester was picked to finish second in the east and received two first-place votes. Lock Haven (east) and Seton Hill (west) rounded out the top-three teams in their respective divisions. 

Head coach Steve Widdowson is entering his 15th season at the 'Ville and is looking to win his fourth consecutive PSAC Title and fifth all-time. The former four-time PSAC/PSAC East Coach of the Year brings back a number of key players from last season's championship team including, First Team All-PSAC defender Aaron Maynard and Second Team All-PSAC selections Jake Altimore, Bob Hennessey and Spencer Shortt. Marauder fans will also see redshirt senior Bobby Bosch back in goal after a stellar second half to his 2021 season. In total, Widdowson and his staff bring back 15 players from last season's group.

The Marauders' last PSAC East Title came during the 2019 season when they finished 9-1-2 in conference play.

Millersville will open its 2022 season on Thursday, Aug. 25 at Seton Hill.
