Millersville women's basketball drops close game to Virginia Union

Taylor Langan led the Marauders for a second night in a row with 19 points while also grabbing five rebounds. Freshman point guard, Marin Miller totaled 13 points off 4-of-7 shooting, and 2-of-5 beyond the arc. Brenna Ortwein led Millersville in rebounds with eight. Makiah Shaw tallied six points and tied with La'Shyra Williams in rebounds with four.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Marauders sustained a comfortable lead through the first half against the Panthers. In the final two minutes of quarter one, Millersville went on an 8-1 run to create a nine-point cushion, leading 22-13.
• In the second, Millersville increased its lead to double digits with a jumper from Shaw. Miller helped give the Marauders their biggest lead of the night with a three-point to broaden the gap, 35-20. Virginia Union added five more points to the board to trail Millersville by 10 going into halftime.
• Two lay-ups from Virginia Union cut the deficit to six to start the third quarter. With the Panthers trailing 45-37, they drained two 3-pointers to end the third and trail Millersville by two. The Panthers quickly gained their first lead of the night with a three-pointer to start the fourth quarter. Bria Beverly tied it up 48-48 with a jumper in the paint, but the Panther's scored 12-points to Millersville's eight which was enough to clinch the win with a final score of 60-56.

• Millersville totaled 28 points in the paint, compared to Virginia Union's 20.
• The Panthers held a 17-10 edge over Millersville on second-chance points.
• 'Ville scored 20 points off Virginia Union turnovers, 10 of which came in the first quarter.
• The Marauders went 20-52 for field goals and 2-of-10 for three-pointers.
