Millersville, Pennsylvania - Early foul trouble for Celeste Robinson and a season-high 29 turnovers doomed the Millersville women's basketball team as they fell 59-49 to Bloomsburg Wednesday. The Huskies came up with 12 steals and converted the Marauder turnovers into 32 points as they controlled the pace of play for the majority of the game.
Robinson led Millersville with 18 points shooting over 46 percent from the field and Alayah Hall scored eight, but the rest of the lineup struggled to contribute. The Marauders were outscored 15-6 in the second quarter and could not dig themselves out of the deficit as Bloomsburg shot over 45 percent from the field. The Huskies had four players reach double figures, led by Morgan Klunk who scored a game-high 18 points.
Millersville would jump out to a six point lead in the first quarter, but when Celeste Robinson had to sit with two fouls, the Huskies took advantage ending the half on a 13-1 run and taking a six point lead into the break.
The Marauders would get to within three points late in the third quarter when Hall hit a pair of free throws and Jade Farquhar knocked down a corner three. Bloomsburg quickly stole the momentum back as Alex Ross hit a layup and Marissa Molnar hit a pair of 3-pointers to force a Mary Fleig timeout.
The Marauders tried to mount a comeback in the third as Celeste Robinson scored 10 points, but the Huskies answered every time and milked the clock en route to victory.
Millersville now falls to 9-14 (7-11 PSAC) and hosts Lock Haven Saturday at 1 p.m.
