Millersville drops its first conference match at league leading Edinboro

Edinboro, Pa. -- The Marauders dropped their first conference game of the season 83-63 at conference leaders Edinboro Saturday afternoon.
Millersville played a strong first quarter against the Fighting Scots and finished the quarter leading 18-16. The Fighting Scots played overly aggressive and sent the Marauders to the free throw line multiple times as half of Millersville's points in the first quarter came from the charity stripe. Unfortunately for the Marauders, nine missed free throws in the first quarter also denied a much larger lead over the Fighting Scots. Edinboro turned up the pressure on both sides of the ball to take the lead two and a half minutes into the second quarter. The Fighting Scots entered halftime with a 41-28 lead after out rebounding the Marauders by 10 and scoring 18 points off turnovers. Edinboro's ability to earn extra possessions proved to be the difference in the second quarter and the rest of the game.
The Fighting Scots maintained their double-digit lead through the third quarter before putting the game out of reach with 3:46 remaining in the quarter. A 13-0 run by the Fighting Scots that lasted 30 seconds into the fourth quarter gave Edinboro an insurmountable 65-38 lead
The Millersville veterans lead the way in scoring as redshirt junior Kendra Bamberger, sophomore Courtney Dimoff and senior Alayah Hall all scored in double figures. Bamberger hit double-digit scoring for the first time this season as she shot almost 55 percent from the floor while scoring 18 points and snagging four rebounds. Dimoff also reached double-digit figures for the first time this season after shooting 40 percent from the three point line and scoring 14 points. Hall scored 11 points while tying for the lead on the team with three assists and two steals a piece.
Redshirt junior Janelle Robinson filled up the stat sheet as she notched a season-high seven points along with four rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Freshman Lauren Lister again played impact minutes off the bench as she also scored seven points while registering three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal.
Millersville plays the second game of their weekend conference road trip out west Nov. 19 at Mercyhurst University at 1 p.m.
