Louisville, Ky. - Riding an extremely efficient offensive performance from Aurielle Mosley, the Millersville women's basketball team rebounded from Sunday's defeat with a convincing 78-61 victory over Missouri S&T Monday.
Millersville (7-2) shot a season-best 50.9 percent from the field, and Mosley, who scored just six points in the previous game against Bellarmine, matched a career-high with 29 on 10-of-14 shooting. She also sank 9-of-10 free throws, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked two shots--all in 30 minutes of action. She was named to the Bellarmine All-Classic Team.
Joining Mosley in double figures was Alexis Martin, Senada Mehmedovic and Mashira Newman, each tallying 10. Newman also handed out a season-high seven assists and recorded five steals.
Missouri S&T (5-4) had won four in a row entering Monday's game, and scored the first six points of the contest. The Miners took a 10-4 lead before Millersville roared in front with a 17-2 run over the next six minutes that included three-point plays from Mosley and Miesha Cousins.
The Marauders ran away with the win from there, extending the lead to 12 (38-26) at the half on two Newman free throws with a second left. Millersville never led by fewer than eight points the rest of the game.
Millersville held a dominating 39-22 rebounding edge and limited Missouri S&T to just six offensive rebounds while grabbing 15 of its own.
Millersville has won at least seven games before Jan. 1 in each of the last five seasons. The Marauders return home to host Slippery Rock on Friday, Jan. 4 and then reigning PSAC Champ Edinboro on Saturday, Jan. 5. Both games are 5:30 p.m. tips.
