Women's Tennis Wins Early but Bounced at PSAC Championships

Shippensburg, Pa. - Millersville's Mellisa Plowman picked up a singles victory and helped her doubles team to another before bowing at the PSAC Championships in Shippensburg.
Plowman and Samantha Prager paired for an 8-0 win over Cheyney's Saquatia Knight and Samantha Grier in the opening round of the doubles championship bracket. However, they were rewarded with a match against top-seeded Jade Pondicas and Anna Pieschl of California (Pa.). Cal advanced to the championship round with an 8-3 win over the Marauder duo.
In the singles championship bracket, Plowman dropped her first set to IUP's Katie Eaton, 7-6. But Eaton
suffered an injury, forcing her to take a medical default. Plowman advance but fell to Tabtip Louhabanjong of IUP, 6-2-, 6-1.
Prager was ousted in the first round of singles by Mercyhurst's Caroline Bristol, 6-0, 6-1.
The singles and doubles championship will be decided Sunday.
