La Salle Results
California (Pa.) Results
Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team opened its season 2-0 but that record was brought back to .500 with two defeats Saturday afternoon at home. La Salle edged the Marauders 5-4, and California (Pa.) took the evening match, 9-0.
Millersville (2-2) faced its stiffest competition of the season Saturday. California is the defending PSAC Champions and La Salle plays at the NCAA Division I level.
Still, the Marauders nearly knocked off Explorers. Millersville's Samantha Prager and Melissa Plowman teamed for an impressive 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles, but La Salle managed wins at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles action.
Millersville swept the top three spots in the lineup with victories from Prager, Andrea Konas, and Plowman. But La Salle took the all three matches at slots four, five and six to clinch the match.
Millersville's second dual of the afternoon got no easier. Konas and Plowman teamed at No. 1 doubles and took two sets but fell, 8-3. Prager and McCabe came up short but took three sets at No. 2 doubles. Cal was impressive in singles play as well, taking all but two matches, 6-0, 6-0.
The Marauders travel to Bloomsburg on Sept. 25 for the ITA Atlantic Regional.
