MILLERSVILLE, Pa. —Millersville faced a tough challenge on Wednesday, falling to Kutztown 6-2. The Marauders were held scoreless through three quarters before netting two goals in the fourth quarter, finishing with nine shots, eight on goal.

Kutztown generated more offense, tallying 15 shots with 12 on goal, while the Marauders placed eight of their nine shots on goal. Both teams recorded six goalkeeper saves, keeping the save total even despite Millersville facing more on-goal attempts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Marauders fell behind early, with Kutztown scoring twice in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead. Despite Katherine Hanlon's three saves, Kutztown's offense maintained pressure with six shots and three penalty corners. In the second quarter, Anna Harris extended Kutztown's lead to 3-0 in the 24th minute. Millersville had a late penalty corner by Faith Bollinger, but the half ended with the Marauders trailing 3-0.

In the third quarter, Kutztown's Bree Zoccolo scored, making it 4-0. The Marauders created five penalty corners and had three shots on goal, but Kutztown's Lorelai Lehenky denied their efforts. In the fourth quarter, Erin Esterhuizen scored twice for Millersville, once off an assist from Tiana Weeks and once on a penalty stroke, narrowing the gap. Despite these efforts, Kutztown secured a 6-2 victory.

POSTGAME REACTION
In assessing the Marauders' loss to Kutztown, Shelly Behrens said, "Yeah, you know, I think just overall I'm disappointed with the performance tonight." Behrens acknowledged the team's response but wanted it earlier, saying, "The fight I never question, you know, for sure...I appreciate that in us, but we have to be able to do that in the first quarter, not just the last."

She pointed to execution on circle entries and penalty corners as an area the Marauders must address, adding, "We know we know we're better than we performed tonight, but we have to be better...sure, great to score two goals, but that's a hollow victory."
