The Marauders put nine of their 11 shots on goal, exceeding their season average of 6.13, compared with 10 shots and six on goal for Mansfield. Erin Esterhuizen put all four of her shots on goal for 'Ville.
Millersville created pressure throughout the game, including four penalty corners in the opening seven minutes and seven more corners across the second half. Esterhuizen was central to that pressure with a team-high four shots, all on goal, while Alaina Culbert put all three of her shots on frame.
The Marauders' scoring came from Olivia Kline and Culbert. Kline cut Mansfield's lead to 2-1 in the 26th minute off an assist from Olivia Roscoe, and Culbert scored unassisted in the 48th minute to bring 'Ville within 3-2. Mansfield answered with another fourth-quarter goal in the 50th minute, and the Marauders continued to generate opportunities afterwards with five Faith Bollinger penalty corners, a saved shot from Jaelynn Fry and a blocked attempt from Megan Alvarez.
Millersville's chances included saved shots from Esterhuizen, Culbert, and Fry, as well as defensive saves by Mansfield on attempts from Culbert and Esterhuizen. Katie Hanlon recorded a save on Amanda Ray in the 11th minute, and Esterhuizen produced the only recorded shot of the third quarter, a saved attempt in the 38th minute.
After the game, head coach Shelly Behrens highlighted the team's ability to generate chances, saying, "Possession created a lot of corners and opportunities today, which is a positive; unfortunately, 6 shots on goal for them were goals."
Kline scored on one of her two shots. Culbert added an unassisted goal and put all three of her shots on goal. Culbert's three shots on goal exceeded her season average of 0.63. Esterhuizen led 'Ville with four shots, all on goal. Her four shots exceeded her season average of 1.88, and her four shots on goal surpassed her season average of 1.25. Roscoe recorded the Marauders' assist, giving 'Ville one assist in the game, surpassing its season average of 0.5.
"The coaches are determined to continue helping the team be as consistent as possible in their play," said Behrens. "The players are also very determined. The last stretch of things for us is about what we want to accomplish in this next phase."
The Marauders are back in action as they host Pride and Breast Cancer Awareness Night against West Chester on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, at 6 p.m.
