INDIANA, Pa. — Millersville field hockey battled until the final minute Sunday, scoring in the 60th minute before falling 2-1 to Indiana (Pa.).

The Marauders were held to three shots and one shot on goal, with their lone score coming in the fourth quarter after Indiana (Pa.) posted both of its goals in the second quarter, scoring in the 22nd and 25th minutes. Indiana (Pa.) finished with nine shots and six on goal. Katie Hanlon handled the workload in goal for 'Ville with four saves over 60 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Marauders' main first-quarter push came in the 10th minute, when Emma Koehler had a shot blocked and took the first of two penalty corners. Earlier, Hanlon stopped Mia Gerick's shot after an Indiana (Pa.) penalty corner, and the quarter ended scoreless at 0-0.

"Every PSAC game allows us to learn and get better," said head coach Shelly Behrens. "So it is up to us to remember the lessons learned."

In the second quarter, 'Ville fell behind 2-0 as Indiana (Pa.) scored on Lilly Fringer's penalty stroke in the 22nd minute and added a Grace McGeehan goal from Maddy Shtino in the 25th minute. Breanna Aughenbaugh had the Marauders' lone shot of the quarter blocked, and Hanlon made a save on McGeehan before 'Ville finished the quarter down 2-0.

Hanlon saved Indiana (Pa.)'s shot after a penalty corner, helping the Marauders get through a scoreless third quarter. 'Ville entered the fourth quarter trailing 2-0.

The Marauders broke through late in the fourth quarter, earning a penalty corner in the 60th minute before Olivia Roscoe scored in the 60th minute to make it 2-1. Hanlon kept Indiana (Pa.) off the board in the quarter with a save on Gerick's shot, and the late goal was the only scoring of the quarter. 'Ville finished with a 2-1 loss.

Roscoe scored on her only shot, putting her attempt on goal. Hanlon played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded four saves, making one in each quarter.

"Conditions were rainy but [were] for both sides….still right there and need to just finish. I know the kids are determined, as I am, to end the loss cycle," said Behrens.
