WORCESTER, Ma.- The Marauders come up empty in their first road game, losing 2-0 against the eighth ranked team in Assumption.

After a great win against tenth ranked Pace, Millersville was riding high preparing for their first road trip of the year. They started off a little rocky in the first quarter letting up Assumptions only goals of the game during the 7th and 12th minutes of the game, the latter coming off a penalty stroke.

"I think there's a ton of positives from today first off I loved how we played and competed from the first quarter to the last," Said head coach Shelly Behrens after the game. "I think there was patches in the first quarter where it wasn't our best defense and the team cleaned that up straight away!"

After giving up the goals in the first quarter, the Marauders toughened up their defense only allowing eight shots on goal out of 13 throughout the entire 60 minutes of play. Millersville weren't short on chances shooting a total of 21 shots, 14 on goal but capitalizing on those opportunities is where adjustments need to be made. Megan Alvarez leading the team with six followed closely behind by Jaelynn Fry and Peyton Bean who had four and three shots respectfully.

"I love the combinations on attack in the corners we created now it's just a matter of converting those," said Behrens. "We had more corners and more shots and we just need to finish, but I love that the team laid it all out there today...A shout out to our bench, they did a great job and stepped up the play!"

The Marauders are back in action on the road tomorrow at 10 a.m. against American International which is the quickest turnaround they will see this season.

"Not ideal to not have 24 hours rest playing back to back, but I believe this is something we can do...We talked about it well before we confirm this time so for us the positives from today [are] building into it tomorrow, said Behrens. "At the end of the day result...shows up as a loss for us [but] we won a lot of things today now its on us to build on this & get the result."
