SPRINGFIELD, Ma. - Less than 24 hours after their first loss of the season, Millersville regained focus as they shutout American International 4-0.

The scoring was led by junior Peyton Bean, who capitalized on a corner from senior Lauren Kampi, allowing the Marauders to gain the lead late into the fifth minute. The early lead would be added to in the 42nd minute after a goal from Lani Derickx, assisted by Olivia Kline. Later Bean scored the final goal in the 52nd minute assisted by Olivia Kline to put an end to any hopes the Yellow Jackets had.

"Bean just connected with the ball and found the back of the net," said Marauders' head coach Shelly Behrens. "Since day one on our campus she has been a leader on and off the field."

Aftyn Robbins, who is starting her third year as a Marauder, earned her first career goal off a solo shot to secure the third goal of the game.

"Really happy to see Aftyn Robbins contributing, she's everywhere on the field right now," Behrens continued. "She got her first career goal ever with less than four seconds to go."

Millersville's defense led by Madi Gaul, Alana Culburt, Cali Mease, and Emma Koehler aided their dominant offense only allowing four shots across all quarters and only one making it to the goal.

"I think our defenders truly get underrated for all the do for us on the field," said Behrens. "Our defenders do a great job of 'prevent defense'."

Millersville proved their strong endurance with this win, having less than 24 hours to reset after their tough loss against Assumption Friday night.

"Mindset today was truly a mental preparation and just digging in mentally and emotionally to play our style of hockey and create opportunities," said Behrens. "I just think the team showed a lot of who they are today and this weekend with who they are as a team. I haven't seen the fight in a MU team like I am seeing in these kids in some time!"

The Marauders continue their away stretch as they open PSAC play against fifth ranked West Chester on Thursday Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.
