'Ville football announces 2026 team captains

MILLERSVILLE, Pa.. - The first captains of the Drew Folmar Era have been elected. Millersville football announced this week that Bryce Beutler, Colin Hastings, Max Hostetter and Nick Romano were selected by their peers to serve as team captains for the 2026 season.
Hostetter and Romano are in the leadership role for the second consecutive season while Beutler and Hastings are captains for the first time. Hostetter, Romano and Hastings are all fifth year players while Beutler is in his fourth season. Hostetter joins Tyler Tate (2021-22) and Chad Miller (2009-10) as the only three defensive linemen to serve as two-time team captains with records dating back to 1956. Romano and Steve Sweeney (2022-23) are the lone defensive backs who have been a captain twice. Beutler makes it the sixth time in the last seven seasons that a linebacker has earned captain status. With Hastings, a wide receiver has earned the role six years in a row.
Beutler landed All-PSAC East Second Team honors in 2025, ranking third in the PSAC in tackles and leading the team in tackles for loss. He has totaled 175 tackles while playing all 22 games the last two seasons.
Hastings enjoyed a breakout season as the Marauders' top receiving target in 2025. He started all 11 games and led the team in every receiving category. His 501 yards were the most by a Marauder in six seasons.
Hostetter has started 22 consecutive games at defensive end. Last season, he totaled 49 stops, 4 1/2 tackles for loss and 2 1/2 sacks.
Romano returns after missing nearly all of the 2025 season with an injury. He tallied 17 tackles in the first three games, but in 2024, he was among the Marauders' top defensive performers, picking off three passes, breaking up six and making 61 tackles in 11 starts.
Millersville, under the direction Folmar for the first time, open the season on Thursday, Sept. 3 at Glenville State.
