PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Millersville University men's tennis team traveled to Chestnut Hill College for its tenth dual match of the season, falling 6-1 to the Griffins. Paul Bagnouls secured the Marauders' lone victory on the day in singles.
The Marauders' top two doubles teams struggled, each dropping their matches by a 6-1 score. Daniel Ducheyne and Arrav Bharti provided the most competitive effort, narrowly falling 7(2)-6 in a tightly contested match.
Paul Bagnouls earned the Marauders' lone victory, defeating his opponent 7-5, 6-3. Adrian Weisser and Milan Urbanek each battled in their matches but fell 6-3, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-3, respectively. Ducheyne remained competitive in his opening set before dropping it 6-3 and falling 6-1 in the second. Axel Duclos showed fight in his match, particularly in the second set, but ultimately lost 6-1, 6-3, while Sandor Wulf dropped his match 6-1, 6-0.
"It's easy to look at our overall record and think we're not very good, but this team works and competes hard and has improved all season," said head coach Matt Helsel. "All three doubles teams are very dangerous and capable of winning. Ducheyne and Duclos have been playing very well in singles lately and Urbanek has been hitting well. We are young and we are learning from these experiences. I've been very proud of how this team continues on their journey, and each of these matches are important steps along the way. I'm very excited to see what these players are capable of achieving, whether it be this year or in the coming seasons."
The Marauders continue their spring stretch on April 10, traveling to Bloomsburg to take on the Huskies.
