ABOUT THE GAME
- Monday’s road win at West Chester put Millersville right back in the PSAC East race with seven games remaining. Four of those games are at home, starting with Wednesday’s tilt with a Shippensburg team that has won five of its last six. Millersville has won six of eight overall and seven of its last nine home games. The Marauders have continued to improve on the defensive end, holding West Chester to 12 points below its season scoring average. The Marauders have not allowed more than 74 points in nine consecutive home games. They now rank fourth in the PSAC in scoring defense and fifth in field goal percentage defense. Millersville is 13-2 when allowing fewer than 80 points. Millersville is allowing just 68.5 points per game on 40.3% shooting from the field and 27.5% shooting from three with a plus-4.3 turnover margin in its 11 home games. Shippensburg enters the game averaging 76.7 points scored and 77.7 points allowed. The Raides are 3-7 on the road, allowing 84.8 points per game on 48.6% shooting. Leading scorer Markus Frank is uneffective, though, as he averages 20.6 points on 53.5% shooting (.355 from three) on the road.

- Monday at West Chester, Millersville called on a pair of freshmen to make their first career starts. The moment was not too big for them. Carnell Henderson delivered a career-high and team-leading 16 points in a career-high 34 minutes. Jase Holland played 11 impactful minutes, making both of his shot attempts and grabbing three rebounds. Holland played in just one game before Jan. 10, but since, he has played in eight consecutive games. Holland averages 11 minutes per game, but his 17.3 points per 40 minutes is fourth on the team, and his 8.7 rebounds per 40 minutes is second. Jan. 10 was also a turning point for Henerson. He’s scored 10 or more points five times in the last eight games, averaging 9.9 points per game with an assist in seven of the eight games.
- Day Waters is up to 1,268 career points, which moved him ahead of Drew Stover ’25 for 30th all-time. He is seven points shy of Justin Nwosu ’23 for 29th. Waters’ 177 career 3-pointers already ranks ninth in Millersville history. He trails James Sullivan (2017-22) by 12 for seventh place. Saraj Ali has scored 751 of his 1,350 points as a Marauder, and that total ranks 24th all-tme. He trails the late Joe Schneider ’68 by 21 points for 23rd place.
- Dante Weise totaled a season-high nine assists and zero turnovers in the win at West Chester. The last Marauder with at least nine in a game was Jaden Faulkner’s 11 against Livingstone in 2023. It was only the 13th time since 2012 that a Marauder has recorded nine or more assists. Faulkner did it seven times, and Larry Grant five times from 2012-13. No other Marauder in the “Statcrew Era,” which began in 2002-03, has recorded nine or more assists without a turnover.
- Millersville is the PSAC’s top shot-blocking team, swatting 4.48 per game. Millersville has blocked at least three shots in seven consecutive games and in 19 of 21 this season. Cesar Tchilombo ranks ninth, Day Waters ranks 14th, Saraj Ali is 17th and Aamir Hurst is 23rd in the PSAC.
- Waters has been generating turnovers as well. In the last four games, he’s matched a career high for steals (5) twice, totaling at least one steal in seven consecutive games with 16 total steals in that stretch. Hurst is still the team leader at 1.8 per game. He’s recorded at least one steal in 19 of 21 games.
SERIES HISTORY
- On Jan. 13, Millersville trailed Shippensburg by eight points with five minutes to play. Waters scored 18, and his 3-pointer in the final minute gave Millersville a four-point lead. The team held on for a 72-70 win. Michael Dickson led Ship with 18 points and Frank scored 15. The series between Millersville and Shippensburg dates back to 1903-04, and Wednesday is the 202nd all-time meeting between the programs. Millersville holds a 126-74 lead with eight wins in a row. Shippensburg won 11 of 13 from 2016-2022, but it has been all Marauders since. Of the last eight wins, however, five have been decided by four points or fewer.
