
Marauders drop season opener on the road to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, De. --- Despite a one goal difference at the half, the Marauders were outscored 11-2 in the second half which dropped their record to 0-1 on the young season. While its a loss on the score sheet, the Marauders will look to learn and build off it moving forward.
The first half was as close as it could've been, with the score being 5-4 going into the break. Goalie KC O'Neill had five first half saves, with four of them coming in the second quarter where she faced seven shots. Goals came courtesy of Avery Weaber, Brianna Gora, Kayleigh Dunn, Addison Geary, and Jodylynn Cadden, both who scored their first collegiate goals.
Things really opened up in the second half when Wilmington went on a tear and the Marauders just weren't able to keep up. Wilmington out shot the Marauders 14-9, but almost all of their shots found the back of the net, with 11 of their 16 goals coming in the second half of action. Two second half yellow cards for the Marauders also did not contribute positively to a potential comeback.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- In her first collegiate career game, Addison Geary led the way in scoring for the Marauders with two goals on five shots.
- Three other Marauders were behind her with one goal each, Brianna Gora, Kayleigh Dunn, and Jodylynn Cadden. Cadden netted her first collegiate points of her career.
- The Marauders controlled the pace of the game, winning 15 of 23 draws. Mary Moraca was responsible for 10 of the 15 draw controls for the Marauders, the other five coming from Katlyn Krebs.
- The defense for the Marauders came to play with three Marauders defenders coming away with two caused turnovers in Briar Brown, Katlyn Krebs, and Bryn Frankhouser.
- Emma Beach and Taylor Bieler led the way with ground balls with three each.
- KC O'Neill ended the game with six total saves.
