ABOUT THE GAME
- Millersville enters Saturday’s game against Lock Haven a game out of first place in the PSAC East with four games remaining. There are four teams within a game of first place West Chester, so nothing other than four playoff spots has been determined. Three of Millersville’s final four games are against teams with sub-.500 records, but Lock Haven already owns a win over Millersville in 2026. Lock Haven topped the Marauders 86-77 on Jan. 17, using a 50-point second half. Millersville, however, is 10-3 with five consecutive wins at home. Millersville has not allowed more than 74 points in 12 of 13 home games and surrendered an average of 60.8 points per game in the last five. Since Nov. 22, only one team (East Stroudsburg) has shot better than 41% inside Pucillo--a stretch of 11 games. On the season, Millersville has allowed 67.5 points per game on 40% shooting from the field and 27.2% shooting from three in 13 home games.

- Millersville needs a fast start Saturday. The Marauders scored just 21 points in the first half of Wednesday’s loss at Shepherd and are now 1-6 when trailing at halftime. The four-point loss also dropped Millersville to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the PSAC in games decided by five points or fewer. While the Marauders rank third in the PSAC in scoring defense, Wednesday was their first loss when allowing fewer than 70 points. Scoring has been the bigger issue in losses as Millersville is 5-6 when scoring fewer than 80 points and have averaged 76.6 points per game on 43.1% shooting (27.7% from three) in its eight losses compared to 83.3 points on 50.3% shooting (34.8% from three) in its 16 wins. There is a significant disparity at the free throw line in wins and losses for Millersville’s opponents. In Millersville’s wins, opponents averaged 13.6 free throws made on 19.4 attempts. In Millersville’s losses, opponents averaged 22.6 makes on 29 attempts. By comparison, Millersville averaged 22.7 attempts in wins and 23.4 attempts in losses.
- Day Waters scored 21 points on Wednesday for his 11th 20-point game of the season. He has led the team in scoring 12 times and ranks fourth in the PSAC in scoring average. If he finishes the season at 19.3 points per game, it will be the top scoring average by a Marauder since Kenny Brown averaged 19.8 in 1992-93. Waters is 1.1 points per game behind IUP’s Dallis Dillard for the PSAC lead.
- Millersville is the PSAC’s top free throw shooting team, sinking 75.3% on 550 attempts. Millersville ranks fourth in total attempts. Interestingly, Millersville’s opponents have attempted 542 free throws--the second most in the PSAC, and shoot 73.4%--the third-best opponent free throw percentage. By comparison, Shepherd’s opponents are shooting 66.1% and West Chester’s opponents are shooting 67.3%.
- Millersville’s freshmen continue to make an impact. After leading the team with a career-high five assists against Mansfield, Carnell Henderson led he team with a career-high six rebounds at Shepherd. Henderson has led the team in steals eight times. He was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday after recording eight steals in Millersville's three wins. Jase Holland played a career-high 17 minutes at Shepherd and led the team in blocks for the seventh time in his 12 games played.
SERIES HISTORY
- Lock Haven has won at Pucillo Gymnasium just three times since 1983, but all three of those wins have come under Mike Nestor. Millersville dominated the series, going 42-4 from 1952-2013. The rivalry has intensified in recent seasons as the teams have evenly split the last eight meetings. Lock Haven’s last win in Pucillo came by a 66-57 score in the 2023 PSAC Tournament. Lock Haven has not won a regular season game at Millersville during Casey Stitzel’s tenure. Lock Haven’s last regular season win came in 2015-16--a season that Millersville finished 4-22. In the first meeting of this season, Waters recorded a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds but five Bald Eagles scored in double figures, led by Dean Coleman-Newsome’s 20.
