COLORADO SPRINGS. CO. --- After two strong performances this past week, the Millersville field hockey team finds themselves back in the good graces of the NFHCA and back on the top ten national list, this time at a season high No. 8.
The Marauders went 1-1 on the week, but took No. 2, Kutztown, to overtime in the second ranked teams closest game this season to date. Kutztown was averaging 7.8 goals going into the game against the Marauders, but were only held to two goals in their match up last Wednesday. This was without a doubt a huge factor that played into the Marauders climbing the ranks as much as they did in this weeks poll.
Millersville kept the good play going into their opening conference game against Slippery Rock, where Emma Ruley, Alexis Kern, and Megan Alvarez led the way offensively to give Millersville the 3-1 win and start out conference play in the win coloumn. Ruley had two goals, Kern found the back of the net once, and Alvarez assisted on all three of their goals in the game this past Saturday.
The PSAC is represented heavily on the national rankings this week with seven different teams finding themselves in the top ten. The Marauders have a chance to jump in the rankings again as this Wednesday they travel to No. 5 ranked West Chester to look to improve to 2-0 in conference play.
