Marauders' lineup stays white hot in rout of Concord

ATHENS, W.Va. - With multi-hit games from seven hitters, Millersville out-scored Concord 23-11 in game one of the three-game series, extending its winning streak to seven.

Matthew Williams and Sam Morris had four hits apiece as Millersville piled up 24 hits as a team. It is the fourth consecutive season that Millersville has produced a 20-run game, and Millersville has scored double-digit runs in three in a row. Millersville has outscored its first eight opponents 92-40. The Marauders entered the day averaging 6.4 stolen bases per game, but that wasn't needed against Concord. Millersville instead had its first three-homer game of the season. Williams hit his fourth of the season, and Jimmy Kirk and Amani Jones both hit their first.

"We can score," said Millersville head coach Jon Shehan. "We didn't steal much today because (Concord) did a good job with the running game. We have a lot of hitters who look good right now."

The one-sided score allowed the Marauders to send 16 different hitters to the plate. Eleven hitters had at least one hit and nine scored at least one run. Millersville also drew 11 walks while striking out just five times. Jeff Sabater went 3 for 4 with a double and two runs. In addition to their four hits, Williams scored four times and drove in three, and Morris scored three times with two RBIs. Sammy Laux got on base five times, going 3 for 3 with two walks. Jones led the Marauders with a career-high five RBIs. Bren Taylor went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and his bases-loaded double started Millersville's scoring and set a five-run third inning in motion.

Millersville trailed 2-0 after the first inning but scored five in the third, five in the fourth and six in the fifth to open an insurmountable lead. The Williams and Kirk homers were hit in the fourth, and Jones' three-run blast came in the fifth.
