ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Millersville lacrosse team fell to Dominican University on Wednesday afternoon by the score of 23–13. The Marauders now hold a 2–2 record on the season.
The Marauders found themselves in a hole early while on the road, as Dominican jumped out to an 8–0 lead in the first 12 minutes of the game. The Marauders pushed back to keep the game within reach, getting goals from Ashlyn Simonetti, Kaleigh Funk, and Clare Roussey to cut the Chargers lead in half early in the second quarter. With nine minutes remaining in the first half, Millersville trailed by just three goals after Liv Genovese and Jodylynn Cadden cashed in on free position attempts. However, Dominican outscored Millersville 4–2 the rest of the way to take a 13–8 lead into halftime.
The Chargers kept their foot on the gas coming out of the break, quickly restoring their eight goal lead with three goals in the first three minutes. Simonettie was able to get two of those back herself, but a late Dominican goal put the Chargers up seven heading into the final frame. The two teams traded tallies to start the fourth quarter, but the Chargers put the game out of reach with a 4–0 run late in the game. The Marauders scored a late goal with 12 seconds remaining, resulting in the 13–23 loss.
