Mykut and Marauders roll past Felician, 15-1

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - Alex Mykut pitched five strong innings and received plenty of offensive support with Amani Jones and Jeff Sabater both recording four hits and Matthew Williams hitting a 3-run home run as No. 6 Millersville earned a 15-1 win over Felician Sunday afternoon.

Millersville (4-2) matched a season high in runs, jumping out to a 4-0 lead after two innings and then posting a six-run sixth and a five-run ninth. Jones, hitting in the leadoff spot, went 4 for 7 with three runs and two stolen bases. Sabeter drove in a career-high four runs in the No. 9 spot. Williams hit his third round-tripper of the season and also drew three walks. Mark McNelly added two hits, two RBIs and three runs.

Mykut improved to 2-0 in as many starts with a stellar outing. He struck out six of the 21 batters he faced, surrendered just one walk and four hits. All four hits he allowed were singles. The Millersville bullpen was also lights out with Evan Rishell striking out three in two innings, Cole Fisher striking out the side in the eighth, and Mike Costello pitching a perfect ninth.

Millersville's breakthrough came in the top of the sixth. Leading 4-1, McNelly drove in Jones and Sabater with a double. Sam Williams followed with a single. Nick O'Connor delivered a bases-loaded RBI single, and Sabater drove in two as the Marauders batted around. Keegan Soltis singled home two and Sabater plated two more with a single in the ninth.

Millersville won two of its three games in Morehead City and now travels to Glenville, W.Va., on Feb. 23 for three games in three days.
