'Ville women's tennis closes regular season with sweep of Shippensburg

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team tuned up for the PSAC Tournament and celebrated senior Maria Ojeda with a 7-0 win over Shippensburg on Tuesday.
The Marauders closed the regular season 8-9 overall and 6-1 against the PSAC. They will make their fourth consecutive PSAC Tournament appearance on Thursday against No. 3 seeded Bloomsburg. It was also Millersville's third 7-0 win against a PSAC East opponent this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Millersville dropped just one game in doubles as Noelle Htwar and Hui Jen Soo won by a 6-0 score, and Maria Ojeda and Chloe Abramowitz won, 6-1. Ojeda and Abramowitz improved to 7-0 against PSAC East foes.
• Millersville won all five singles matches in straight sets and did not drop a point in five of the 10 sets. Htwar scored a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles against Corrine Markovich. Ojeda swept her match in the No. 2 spot. Abramowitz also swept her opponent in the No. 4 flight. No. 5 Sophie Lanius ran her record to 6-1 against Eastern Division foes, and Soo earned her seventh win in eight matches.
SENIOR SALUTE
• Ojeda, Millersville's lone senior, was recognized before the match. Ojeda was an All-PSAC East First Team Singles selection in 2022 and a second team pick in 2021. This season, she posted a 10-11 record in singles but went 4-1 against the PSAC East. She also won eight of her final nine doubles matches with Chloe Abramowitz. She posted a 34-21 doubles record in her career.
• Coach Matt Helsel on Ojeda's career: "Maria had a fantastic career and has consistently delivered in competition when we've needed her most. Her results speak for themselves. She'll undoubtedly succeed in her next chapter as well."
