Women's lacrosse collects third consecutive win

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Millersville women's lacrosse delivered its third consecutive win today, as the Marauders took down Georgian Court, 19-7. This is the Marauders' third time this season scoring at least 19 goals, while beating their opponent by 12 or more goals. The team's 3-0 start marks the program's first since the 2018 season when they started 5-0.

Millersville improves to 3-0 on the season, while Georgian Court drops to 1-5. Kristi Kada led the Marauder offense with five goals, while Gillian Zimmerman followed with four. Four 'Ville players scored three or more goals on the day, with Grace Cobaugh and Amanda Juliano each recording three.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Marauders gave up the first lead to Georgian Court, as Riley O'Connor scored at the 12:42 mark of first-quarter play, however, Zimmerman would give 'Ville the lead shortly after, scoring two goals in less than 30 seconds to put her team up 2-1. Millersville would outscore GCU 4-1 to end the first quarter, giving them a 6-2 lead going into the second.
• The Lions would pull within two midway through the second quarter following three unanswered goals, which is the closest they'd get for the remainder of play, as the Marauders rounded out first-half action with two unanswered goals of their own.
• Third-quarter play was quiet until the final 6:28 of play, which saw five total goals, one from GCU and four from 'Ville. The late-quarter offensive swing from Millersville gave the group a seven-goal advantage going into the final 15 minutes of action.
• The 'Ville offense kept flowing in the fourth quarter, as they outscored GCU 6-1, which included three goals from Kada.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Kada, Cobaugh, and Juliano all recorded five points to lead Millersville on the offensive end of the field.
• Cobaugh led the Marauders with nine total shots and nine draw controls.
• Ashlyn Simonetti dished out a team-high three assists in the victory.
• Kada and Juliano each fired a team-high seven shots on frame.
• Kada, Taiyana Goldsborough, and Morgan Scott each recorded a team-high two caused turnover.
• The Marauders out-shot the Lions 38-21, including 29-12 on goal.
• Millersville was 21-24 on clears, while Georgian Court was 16-17.
• 'Ville held the edge in draw controls, 19-11.
