MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville completed a three-game series sweep of Bluefield State and extended its winning streak to seven with wins of 18-0 and 17-11 Sunday at Cooper Park.
Millersville (16-5) has now scored double-digit runs eight times this season, and the 35 runs were the most by a Millersville team in a doubleheader since 2013 when it totaled 63 at Lincoln. The 18 runs scored in game one were the most since totaling 18 in the 2021 season opener, as well as the third-most runs ever scored at Cooper Park.
John Seibert led the Marauders at the plate in the opener with a grand slam, double and a career-high six RBIs.
Colby Gromlich (2-1) tossed four shutout innings and combined with
Jacob Paulishak and
Evan Rishell for a seven-inning one-hitter.
Sam Morris helped the Marauders score 10 runs in the first inning of game two, hitting a grand slam. He also picked up his first collegiate pitching victory with three strong innings of relief work. Seibert also had three hits and two RBIs in game two, giving him a 5-for-8, 8-RBI day.
Thomas Caufield went 4-for-9 with six runs scored.
GAME ONE
• A one-out single in the third inning was the only hit Bluefield State managed over seven innings. Gromlich struck out seven and allowed only three runners to reach in his four innings, boosting his record to 2-1, and extending his streak of innings pitched without an earned run allowed to 14 1/3 innings.
• Millersville scored at least one run in each of the first four innings, building a 10-0 lead after the fourth. Seibert's homer came as part of a five-run third. Millersville scored eight more runs in sixth and did so on just three hits. Five Marauders were hit by a pitch in the inning. Seibert drove in two with a double to cap the scoring.
GAME TWO
• The first six Marauders to come to the plate in game two recorded a hit, and

Luke Trainer (double) followed with their second hits of the inning, and
Keegan Soltis put Millersville into double figures with a double of his own.
• The Big Blue, however, mounted a comeback. After closing the deficit 12-4, Bluefield State scored seven runs in the sixth inning, getting a three-run home run from Ethan Wilkins. All seven runs came with two outs and were unearned after a Millersville error kept the inning alive. Millersville responded immediately with five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
