
Millersville starts PSAC action with sweep of Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Millersville men's tennis started PSAC action exactly as planned. The Marauders traveled to Kutztown and swept the Golden Bears 7-0 Thursday.
Millersville is now 1-2, picking up its first win after a pair of non-conference losses. Kutztown dropped to 0-3 (0-3 PSAC) with the loss.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville dropped just five total games in doubles while winning all three matches for the point. Carlos Martinez-Lucas and Frank Yanni paired for a 6-2 win at No. 1. Ben Fellman and Ting-Yu Yen scored a 6-3 win at No. 2. Santiago Ramos and Zach Pernia cruised in the No. 3 spot, 6-0.
• Millersville's singles matches finished in similar fashion. Five of the six wins came in straight sets, with Pernia improving to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 6. Fellman also won by a 6-0, 6-0 score at No. 4. Yanni overcame a first set loss to Sebastian Arizpe (7-5) by rallying for a 6-1, 6-1 wins in the next two sets.

• On bouncing back for the team's first win: "The men were very sharp. Our opponents aren't as bad as the scores might indicate. I was very impressed with the focused, business-like performance today. That's the type of showing I expect to see from them every time out the door."
NOTES
• After losing 26 consecutive matches to Kutztown between 2000-2007, Millersville has won each of the last two over Kutztown.

• The Marauders travel to Bloomsburg for a PSAC East match on Saturday before playing Salem Sunday at the Hempfield Sports Complex in Landisville, Pa.
