MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — The Millersville men's tennis team fell to Davis & Elkins 4-0 on Saturday. The Marauders dropped all three doubles matches and singles matches at Nos. 1, 2 and 3, while the Nos. 4-6 singles matches were left unfinished.
Saturday marked a completion to a dual that had started on Friday. Rain pushed the conclusion of the match-up to Saturday. Millersville fell to 0-2 with the loss while D&E improved to 1-1.Â
Davis & Elkins earned the doubles point by taking all three completed courts. Philipp Fedorczuk and Anish Ranjalkar defeated Sandor Wulf and Joel Oetliker 7-5 at No. 1 doubles, Sou Okada and Asier Perez beat Milan Urbanek and Paul Bagnouls 6-4 at No. 2, and Julio Troncoso and Maurizio Gutierrez defeated Adrian Weisser and Arrav Bharti 6-4 at No. 3.
In singles, Fedorczuk defeated Wulf 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1, Ranjalkar topped Urbanek 7-5, 7-6(6) at No. 2, and Okada beat Weisser 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. Those results supplied Davis and Elkins' remaining three points.
"There were a lot of positives to pull from this one," said Millersville head coach Eric Burns. "Doubles was still very strong. I'm looking forward to getting back on the court in a couple days against a new opponent."
The Marauders host Juniata on Monday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at McComsey Tennis Courts in Millersville, Pa.
