Shippensburg takes down Millersville

Shippensburg (6-2, 3-2 PSAC East) rushed for 212 yards and Brycen Mussina completed 14-of-17 passes, threw two for touchdowns and also ran in two while Millersville (2-6, 1-4 PSAC East) was sacked eight times for a loss of 58 yards and finished with 107 yards of total offense. Jack Stagaard came off the bench and made his career debut, completing 5-of-8 passes for 100 yards and a threw a touchdown pass.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Shippensburg scored touchdowns on its first two drives, led 28-0 at the half and 38-0 before Millersville got on the board. Millersville punted on all five of its first half possessions, going three-and-out four times and totaled 30 yards of offense in the first half. Only two of Millersville's drives in the game extended past four plays.
• The longest drive of the day came early in the fourth quarter when Stagaard completed three consecutive passes to travel 75 yards. He first connected with freshman Timmy Smith for six yards and then found tight end Eli Workinger for 49, reaching the Shippensburg 20. On first-and-10, Stagaard hit Makim Melvin for a 20-yard touchdown connection.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Quarterbacks accounted for 10 of Millersville's 16 rushing attempts. The longest run of the game was a six yarder by Smith. Six different Marauders had two catches. Workinger led the team with 60 yards.
• Shippensburg's Bill Williams (76 yards) and Khalid Dorsey (71 yards) shared the load in the ground game. On defense, 10 different Raiders had a hand in a sack.
• Millersville recorded four sacks with redshirt freshman Garrett Cox's two sacks and three tackles for loss leading the way. Cox also forced a fumble and totaled 10 tackles. Rafael Lozada led Millersville with a career-high 13 stops.
• Tyler Tate continued his productive pass rushing season with another sack, boosting his season total to 9 1/2.
NOTES
• Stagaard became the fourth quarterback to take a snap for Millersville this season. He's the third QB to throw a touchdown pass.
• Melvin's touchdown was his second of the season.
