
Katina Jones advances to round of 16 at PSAC Championships

Bloomsburg, Pa. - Senior Katina Jones and freshman Jasmine Morris of the Millersville University women's tennis team competed at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships on Saturday afternoon hosted by Bloomsburg University.
Jones won her first round match against Aubri Stetina of East Stroudsburg. Jones was seeded No. 22 and Stetina was seeded No. 21, with Jones sweeping her opponent 6-0, 6-0. This marks the second-straight year Jones claimed a singles victory at the PSAC Individual Championships.
In her next match, Jones lost to Emily Gordon of Mercyhurst 6-4, 6-4. Gordon advances to the semifinal round and will continue to compete tomorrow.
Morris lost her singles match to Taylor Cappoferri of Bloomsburg, 6-3, 6-4. Morris was seeded No. 12 while Cappoferri was seeded No. 11.
Jones and Morris lost their doubles match to Jenna Bailey and Kaelyn Zak of Seton Hill by a score of 8-4. The Millersville duo was seeded No. 10, while the Griffins tandem was seeded No. 9.
The Marauders are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 3 when they host the University of the District of Columbia at 2 p.m. on the McComsey Tennis Courts.
