
Millersville spring football underway

Millersville, Pennsylvania - Spring football is underway for the Millersville Marauders. The 2017 squad took to the field for the first time on March 27, starting a month with 14 practices that culminates with the April 22 Black & Gold Spring Game at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
Spring practices are open to fans. Dates include:

BLACK & GOLD SPRING GAME
Entering 2017, the roster is as experienced and as deep as it has been under head coach Greg Breitbach, who is entering his fifth season. The Marauders return nine starters on both offense and defense.
On offense, Garry Reyes, Kevin Lang, Brett Harris and Brandon Caldwell return on the offensive line, and the skill positions are manned by All-PSAC East wide receiver Kevin Wiggins, Christian Kemp and Zac Slonac. Tight end Tyler Zilen is back for his third season as a starter as is running back Phil Overton. Additionally, veteran offensive contributors like Tyrone Gibson, Sheldon Snell, Blake Cahill and Sean Naughton experience and depth. Quarterback Tony Staffieri started two games and played in eight as a redshirt freshman in 2016. He rushed for 162 yards and threw for 246 in his first start. Pushing him for playing time are redshirt freshmen Collin Shank and Tommy Klock. Wiggins led the team with 757 receiving yards and six touchdown catches as a junior.
On defense, Millersville returns its entire front four as well as key members of the two-deep. Morgan Faughnan, Drew Seaburg and Logan Kinser are all multi-year starters. All-PSAC East linebacker Sean Dugan is the anchor of the defense after totaling 111 stops. He ranked 12th in Division II in tackles and his 69 solo stops were the most by a Marauder since 1996. The Marauders have 17 defenders with playing experience coming back.
Millersville also added some immediate impact players in recruiting. Junior safety Jhet Janis played at Oregon last season. Cornerback Trejon Dinkins comes to the Marauders from Delaware and Kendle Pitts transfers in from Shepherd. Tykeem Dixon is a defensive end from Valley Forget Military College and offensive lineman Dan Creter attended Robert Morris. All five transfers are active in spring practice.
