West Chester pulls off overtime win over Marauders

Millersville, Pa. -The Millersville field hockey team suffered a 3-2 overtime loss at the hands of West Chester Wednesday at Vonnie Gros field in a game the was a battle from start to finish.
Fifty-one seconds. That's all the time West Chester needed in overtime to end a crucial matchup with Millersville. Nikki Bennett scored the the game-winner, and the Golden Rams' comeback was complete.
It was a back and forth game, as has become the norm between these PSAC rivals. Millersville led 2-1 until Marnie Kusakavitch got one past Marauders' goalkeeper Samantha Rumler to tie it up with less than 14 minutes remaining. Rumler faced 11 shots and 10 corners in the game. It was also the only game this season in which Millersville allowed a team to come from behind and win.
In the beginning of the second half, the game took a positive twist for Millersville. Taylor Parker scored five minutes into the half to tie it with Olivia Hershey responsible for the assist. Eight minutes later, Aliza Mizak added a goal to give Millersville a 2-1 lead.
West Chester went up 1-0 in the first half when Maya Gulliksen scored with five minutes remaining. That was the only goal of the half.
The loss drops Millersville to fourth in the PSAC. West Chester moves to outright possession of third in the conference. If the Marauders win their final game they will lock up the four seed in the PSAC, which will result in a home field advantage for the first round of the PSAC tournament, which will take play Nov. 1.
Millersville's final game comes on the road against a 2-15 (1-8) Mansfield team. The game takes place this Saturday at 12 p.m.
