
Early Deficit Too Much for Marauders to Overcome

Millersville, Pa. - Kutztown raced to a 6-1 lead over Millersville in the first 15 minutes of Wednesday's PSAC women's lacrosse contest, and the homestanding Marauders never recovered, falling by a 13-10 final.
Kutztown (3-8, 1-6 PSAC) posted nine goals in the first 20 minutes of the game. While Millersville (5-6, 1-5 PSAC) scored three in a row to end the first half and two of the first three to start the second, the offense ran out of steam and managed just two goals over the final 21:48.
The Marauders cut the deficit to 10-8 on an Abby Mack to Taylor Davis goal with 21:48 to go. Kutztown, however, scored at the 19:24 mark and at 17:31 while Millersville lost three consecutive draw controls and failed a pair of clears.
Millersville committed 20 turnovers for the fourth time in the last five games--all four of those games losses. The team also converted on just one of six free position shots and posted a season-low .303 shooting percentage.
Brooke Fisher led the Marauders with three goals, two ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Vogel scored three goals and totaled a game-high and season-high seven ground balls and forced four turnovers. Davis produced her first career multi-goal game. The Marauders continued to play short-handed with starters Caitlin Shannon, Kathryn Kehring and Ella Callahan out with injuries.
Kaitlin Crouthamel recorded 14 saves in the defeat. Kutztown's JoAnn McLaughlin totaled 14 saves. Jillian Spencer led the Golden Bear offensive attack with five goals.
The Marauders return to action on April 12 against nationally-ranked Lock Haven.
