Marauders Sail Past Warriors for 14th Win

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Millersville field hockey scored three goals in the second half to cruise past East Stroudsburg Wednesday afternoon.
Millersville (14-1, 6-1 PSAC) notched its fifth consecutive win on goals from Lauren Gerhart, Champayne Hess and Olivia Hershey. Hess scored her fifth goal in the last three games, and it was the game-winner.
The Marauders, perhaps still recovering from a long weekend trip, were kept off of the scoreboard and managed just three shots in the first half. A penalty corner 11 minutes into the second period provided the Marauders with their first score. Mary Atkins entered the ball to Brittany Troutman, who quickly fed Lauren Gerhart for her sixth goal of the season.
Hess was helped by Rachel Dickinson just two minutes later to increase the Marauder lead to 2-0. The flurry of offense continued eight minutes later when Margaret Thorwart assisted Hershey.
Lauren Sotzin kept East Stroudsburg scoreless until Ally Roth tallied her 18th goal of the season in the 61st minute. The Warriors made a valiant effort in the final 10 minutes, but Sotzin saved three of Roth's shots and one more from Hosford to keep the lead intact.
The Marauders travel to Bloomsburg on Saturday for a key PSAC match-up. Game time is 1 p.m.
