Marauders Top Mercyhurst for Third Place at PSAC Championship

Bloomsburg, Pa. - Millersville's Donald Swankto edged Mercyhurst's Adam Marnik in an epic battle at No. 3 singles to clinch third place at the PSAC Team Championships for the Marauders.

Millersville (13-6) and Mercyhurst were knotted at 4-4 with one match to be decided. Marnik edged Swantko 6-3 in the first set, but Swankto rallied to win the final two sets, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-5). The third-place finish is the best for Millersville since placing second in 2007.

Mercyhurst took a 2-1 lead after the doubles session, but Millersville bounced back with four singles wins. In addition to Swankto, Drew Slocum earned an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over Jordan Van der Veer at No. 2 singles. Ryan Knarr and Henry Ben also scored straight-set wins.

With a 13-6 record, the Marauders will look to get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
