Buckhannon, W.Va. - The Millersville men's tennis season came to an end Sunday when it ran into No. 2-seeded W.Va. Wesleyan in the opening round of the NCAA Atlantic Regional. The Bobcats downed the Marauders by a 5-0 score.
With a 13-7 record, Millersville won its most matches since the 2000-01 season and reached the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time. This year's stay, however, was short because of the Bobcats.
Wesleyan won all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 advantage. Millersville needed to rally quickly in singles, but straight-set wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles clinched the match for the Bobcats. They now advance to face the winner of Kutztown and Bloomsburg.
Several Marauders produced outstanding seasons. Preetham Moras and Drew Slocum won 15 doubles matches--the most by a Marauder tandem since 2001. Slocum and Henry Ben led the team with 14 singles wins, and Moras totaled 13.
