
Women’s Soccer Falls to Wildcats

New Castle, Del. – Senior Taylor Suskie scored her fourth goal of the season in the final minutes to cut Wilmington's lead in half, but the Wildcats held on to defeat the Marauders by a score of 2-1 Tuesday.
Wilmington (5-9) found the first goal of the game in the 39th minute when Brittany Rhodes tapped it over to Penelope Fantis. Fantis shot it from just inside the box to beat Millersville's keeper for the 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats outshot the Marauders in the first side by a margin of 6-5, but Millersville took a decisive edge in corner kicks, 5-1.
Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Fantis found her second goal of the game to extend Wilmington's lead to 2-0. Jordan Hoesli-Atkins delivered the ball to Fantis, who shot the ball from 20 yards out to score.
In the 86th minute, Suskie scored off a rebound that deflected off the goal post to cut the deficit to one. Despite outshooting the Wildcats 13-10, the Marauders were unable to force overtime.
Wilmington's Brooke Eveler finished the game with five saves, while Millersville's Laura Reed made three saves.
Millersville travels to California (Pa.) on Saturday, Oct 22 to take on the No. 4 Vulcans. The game is slated for 3:30 p.m.
