
Marauders Unable to Deal First Loss to No. 6 West Chester

Millersville, Pa. - No. 6 West Chester completed an unbeaten season, clinched the PSAC East crown and spoiled Millersville's Senior Night Saturday at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium by an 15-7 score.
Kelsey Schmoltze led Millersville (3-11, 2-8 PSAC East) with two goals and Liz Weekley closed her record-setting career with a goal and assist, but it was not enough to keep pace with the Golden Rams (15-0, 10-0 PSAC East), who will serve as the No. 1 seed in the upcoming PSAC Tournament.
West Chester scored just 29 seconds into the contest, but Weekley evened the score with her 31st goal of the season six minutes later. West Chester, however, reeled off four-straight goals before Amanda Mattera broke the run with 8:54 left in the first half. Before the first half expired, West Chester would build a 9-3 lead.
Millersville rallied with four second-half goals against Kelly Martin, who entered at the start of the period. West Chester still managed to out-score the Marauders by a 6-4 margin.
West Chester out-shot the Marauders, 43-19, and the home team committed 33 turnovers. West Chester's Nicole Haines totaled seven points on four goals and three assists.
Millersville keeper Courtney Haggerty totaled 19 saves while West Chester's two goalies combined for just three.
Prior to the game, Millersville recognized its four seniors: Weekley, Katie DiRico, Lindsay Keeley, Lindsay Toriello. Weekley finished her career as Millersville's all-time points leader with 224. She also finished second in career goals with 170 and second in career assists with 54.
