
Golden Rams Slip Past Millersville in Final Match

West Chester, Pa. – In its final match of the regular season, the Millersville women's volleyball team dropped a close, five-set match to conference opponent West Chester by scores of 25-9, 25-22, 23-25, 19-25, 17-15 Saturday afternoon. The Marauders fell to 14-21 overall and 4-15 in the PSAC with the loss.
After falling in the first two sets of the afternoon, Millersville battled back to take sets three and four and knot the score at 2-2.
MU continued its rally into the fifth set and held a seven-point advantage at 13-6 with two points needed to take the match. The Golden Rams' (23-11, 8-11 PSAC) offense took over, however, and knocked in point after point to take the set into extra points en route to a win.
Although the Marauders struggled offensively in the first set, neither team won another set by more than six points throughout the remainder of action.
Allison Huss led the Marauder offense with 16 kills and three service aces, while Devin Fortney tallied 12 kills and a team-high four aces. Jessica Frantz put up 29 assists on the day and Katie Pisano added 11.
Five Marauders totaled double-digit digs. Katie Galuska tallied 26, Franz ant Fortney each added 19 and Pisano and Sue Caramanico both had 11.
Under first-year head coach Brian Smith, the Marauders close out the season fifth in the PSAC East.
