Marauders sweep Felician in dominant win

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — Millersville University women's volleyball team showcased their dominance as they swept Felician 3-0, with set scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-18. The Marauders tallied 36 kills and hit .167, while effectively limiting Felician to 23 kills and a -.036 hitting percentage.
The Marauders paired their 36-23 advantage in kills with a .167 hitting percentage, and Felician hit -.036. 'Ville also concluded the match with 54 digs compared to Felician's 41. The Marauders excelled with extended scoring runs throughout the match, notching one 6-0 run and two 8-0 runs. Felician held a 10-7 edge in total blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Marauders transformed a narrow 15-14 lead into a 21-14 advantage with a 6-0 run, highlighted by Marissa Storti's impressive serving of five consecutive points, including kills from Alex Nava and Sam White, and a Storti ace. The Marauders secured seven of the last eight rallies in the first set, with Hailey Lazur closing it out with a kill from Julia Chunta for a 25-16 victory.
'Ville took control in the second set with an eight-point surge, overturning a 14-11 deficit into a 19-14 lead. Storti served seven consecutive points during that sequence, adding a kill and a service ace, with Nava contributing a kill. The Marauders reached set point at 24-16, eventually taking the set 25-20.
In the third set, the Marauders overcame an 18-17 deficit by scoring the final eight points to secure a 25-18 win. Amanda Protzman tied the score with a kill from Marin Esch and then served the closing stretch, which featured two kills each from Nava and Lazur, along with Protzman ace.
"This match was definitely a confidence booster," said head coach Brian Smith. "We knew that this team already beat West Chester and we had to come out hot. I thought we had a good, tight match, and I think the confidence this match is one of the biggest benefits. The last couple weeks Sidonia Cecco has been passing really well and I think that's elevated us a little bit, and her and the team passed well tonight. It's all about ball control and I feel we finally won that battle... Our blocking has significantly improved the last three matches. I'm happy with that and I think it's helping us play better."Â

Nava led the Marauders with 10 kills and added five digs. Lazur delivered eight kills on 12 attacks while hitting .583 and contributed two block assists. Chunta tallied 18 assists and six digs. Storti recorded 13 digs, served two aces, and added a solo block.
