
Marauders Earn 3-1 Victory Over Shippensburg at Home

Millersville, Pa.- The Millersville women's volleyball team used a collective effort to beat conference foe Shippensburg 3-1 Tuesday evening in Pucillo Gymnasium, putting an end to a three-match losing streak.
Sporting pink jerseys in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Marauders (12-21, 4-11 PSAC East) looked for retribution after falling 3-0 to the Lady Raiders (9-16, 4-9 PSAC East) earlier this season. The squad hosted the DIG PINK match to raise awareness of the disease.
Millersville displayed an impressive team effort with nine players recording digs and 10 with kills. The Marauders took the set by scores of 25-22, 25-18, 23-25 and 25-22. The Marauders also had two players with double-doubles.
Senior Meredith Sinback's 15 assists and six digs paced the Marauders as they took the opening two sets. Shippensburg rallied for a third set victory as Millersville committed 11 attack errors and two with service errors in the set.
Exchanging points back and forth, the Marauders finally took control of the fourth set after their 10th point and never fell behind. Two kills from sophomore Allison Huss sealed the victory for Millersville for its first win in four matches.
Shippensburg's Andrea Heimsoth led all players with 38 assists, and Sinback followed close behind with 35. She also posted 12 digs. Huss recorded a match high 15 digs in addition to 12 kills. Redshirt freshman Ami Killinger led all Marauders with 14 kills.
Millersville returns to action with three road games this weekend. The squad travels to Albany, N.Y. to face Saint Rose on Saturday, and continues to Springfield, Mass. with matches against American International and Franklin Pierce.
