Cindy Wilson, the 2022 PSAC Coach of the Year, has quickly turned the Marauders into perennial postseason contenders.
Twice in three seasons, her team has advanced to the PSAC Tournament. In year one as Millersville's head coach, Cindy Wilson led her team to the postseason--a feat never before accomplished by a first-year head coach in the 53 seasons of Millersville women's lacrosse. Wilson's second season of 2020 was also off to a strong start before it was cut short because of the coronavirus pandemic. In 2022, the Marauders were back at it, winning 12 games--the most for the program since 1990. The club also earned a NCAA Atlantic Region ranking.
Wilson was officially named Millersville's head coach on Aug. 29, 2018--just days before the start of a new season. She quickly made an impact, however. The Marauders won six of seven during one stretch of the season, qualified for the PSAC Tournament for the first time since 2016 and nearly knocked off nationally-ranked Mercyhurst in the opening round. Under Wilson's direction, 10Â Â Marauders have been named All-PSAC and Grace Cobaugh was named PSAC Freshman of the Year in 2019.
Wilson came to Millersville after serving as the head coach at the University of Scranton for six seasons. A two-time Landmark Conference Coach of the Year, Wilson led Scranton to three consecutive conference championship game appearances while posting a 55-46 overall record in her six seasons.
Wilson guided her teams to the Landmark Conference Tournament in all six seasons at the helm. Her program hit its stride starting in 2016 when it posted an 11-7 record and reached the conference championship game. Wilson's team hit that same win total and finished as conference runner-up again in 2017, and in 2018, Wilson led Scranton to a school record 12 victories and a third consecutive trip to the title game. She was named Landmark Conference Coach of the Year for the second time at season's end. Wilson has developed 29 all-conference selections including the 2017 players of the year.
Prior to taking over as the head coach at Scranton, Wilson served as the assistant coach at Muhlenburg for three seasons.
A West Chester, Pa., native and 2009 graduate of Susquehanna, Wilson earned a bachelor's degree in business administration before earning a master's degree in sports management from California (Pa.). As a student-athlete, Wilson was a four-year letterwinner and two-time team captain. She was named All-Landmark Second Team in 2008, and was a member of the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.
