Stephen Rivera joined the Millersville football coaching staff as the defensive line coach prior to the 2022 season. Over the last decade, Rivera has gained experience in the high school, college and semi-pro ranks.
Rivera started his coaching career in 2009 at Mercyhurst, serving as the running back's coach for the record-setting Richard Stokes. He later coached tackles, tight ends and served as video coordinator for the Lakers. Rivera spent two seasons at Albright College as an outstide linebackers coach and video coordinator before entering the high school ranks. He's since had stints as an assistant with Central Dauphin East, Hershey and Susquehanna Township.
Rivera also served as run game coordinator, offensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the semi-pro Harrisburg Sharks over the course of two seasons, helping the team to records of 13-0 and 10-2.
Like head coach J.C. Morgan, Rivera is a graduate of Bucknell University. There, Rivera was a two-sport athlete, playing on the offensive line and wrestling as a heavyweight. He graduated in 2008 with bachelor degrees in both political science and religion. Rivera and his wife, Renee, have two children, Kendall and Everett. He also serves as an independent sales rep for Jostens.
