MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Jimmy Kirk drove in six runs and hit a sixth-inning grand slam, lifting No. 24 Millersville to an 8-3 win over East Stroudsburg in Friday's PSAC East opener at Cooper Park. Game two of the doubleheader did not start because of approaching severe weather. That game will be rescheduled at a later date.

The game one win extended Millersville's (16-4, 1-0) winning streak to 12 games and gave it a sixth consecutive win over the Warriors (11-7, 0-1). Kirk went 2 for 4, driving in Millersville's first two runs with an 0-2, two-out double off the right field wall in the third. In the sixth, after East Stroudsburg had cut Millersville's lead down to 4-2, Kirk went to the opposite field again, blasting a 3-1 fastball with three runners aboard.

Alex Kuehn (3-2) blanked the Warriors for the first five innings and pitched into the sixth before handing the ball to Joe Morrissey. Kuehn surrendered two runs--one earned--on four hits while striking out four. One of the strikeouts was an inning-ender with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth. Kuehn has won his last three starts.

Millersville chased ESU starter Ryan Dewees (2-1) in the fourth after Christian Cerone singled home a pair of runs. Cerone finished the game 2 for 2 with two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base. Donis Rodriguez drew two walks and scored two runs.

With game two of the series on hold, Millersville travels to East Stroudsburg Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
