Kuehn, Morrissey combine for no-hitter

HAMPTON, Va. - Alex Kuehn and Joe Morrissey made history in Friday's 2-1 win over Molloy, teaming for the seventh no-hitter and first combined no-hitter in Millersville history.
Kuehn (1-1) pitched five innings and Morrissey logged four for his first save of the season. The pair combined for 14 strikeouts. It was the first no-hitter pitched by the Marauders since current pitching coach Eli Nabholz tossed one against Mansfield in 2017.
"A combined no-no is unique because it is staff oriented," said Millersville head coach Jon Shehan. "It's not just one guy going out and doing it. You've got to pass the baton and trust your teammate. You've got to give Coach Nabholz and Sammy Laux credit too. Eli called maybe the best game I've seen him call, and Sammy was nails with his receiving this evening."
Kuehn threw 82 pitches in his second start of the season. He walked two and hit three, and while runners reached base in three of his five innings, it was a fielding error after a pair of hit batsmen that brought in an unearned run in the fifth. Morrissey entered in the sixth and retired the first six batters he faced. He faced one over the minimum in his four innings and finished with authority, striking out the side in the top of the ninth.
"The dugout was consistent all night," said Shehan. "The energy picked up in the ninth for obvious reasons, but I thought we did a good job being present on every pitch of the game."
The outing came against a program that went 35-19, won the East Coast Conference and reached the final game of the NCAA Super Regional in 2025. And what a difference a week made for Kuehn, who started Millersville's season opener on Feb. 7, allowed 11 runs in the first inning and 12 runs in three.
"Both guys put three pitches on the plate, made pitches to different parts of the zone, and made competitive pitches when they fell behind or had guy son base. They both pitched with freedom tonight. Kuehn was himself: cool and calm. Joe was himself: fired up, pitching with a lot of energy and conviction. I'm really proud of how they bounced back this weekend."
Millersville needed that pitching performance going up against James Sill, the reigning ECC Pitcher of the Year who led Division II with a 1.52 ERA in 2025. Millersville scored both of its runs against Sill in the second inning and finished with just three hits. After a Jimmy Kirk walk and Xavier Smith, Millersville perfectly executed situational offense. Brady Ebbert sacrificed both runners into scoring position, and Conor McCartney smoked a single over the mound and up the middle, plating both runs.
