Ritchey earns first PSAC East Pitcher of the Week award

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - After shutting down one of the PSAC's top lineups, Rece Ritchey was named the PSAC East Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Shepherd entered the weekend series ranked in the PSAC's top three in batting average, on-base percentage and runs scored, but Ritchey held quieted the Rams for five scoreless innings, helping Millersville clinch the series.

Ritchey struck out seven batters while issuing just one walk and scattering six hits, five of which were singles. In the third inning, Shepherd loaded the bases with no outs, and Ritchey proceeded to force a ground out and a pair of strikeouts to end the inning.

Ritchey, working through his first season as a starting pitcher, has pitched at least five innings without an earned run allowed in four of his last five starts. He ranks fourth in the PSAC with 40 strikeouts and ranks sixth in ERA (2.51) and batting average against (.212).
