ABOUT THE GAME
- Millersville has been knocking on the door of victory and returns to Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium Saturday for its first PSAC East home game. Shippensburg is the opponent, and the Raiders are plenty familiar with close calls as well. Millersville has two losses by three points or fewer and was within a score of Shepherd with 18 minutes remaining in last week's road game. The Raiders, meanwhile, have lost three games by a grand total of 12 points, including a 28-26 loss to undefeated and nationally ranked IUP on Sept. 19.
- Both teams feature first year head coaches who are coaching their alma maters. Drew Folmar ‘01 leads the Marauders, returning to campus after a long and successful career as a Division I offensive coordinator at Lehigh, Elon and Bucknell. Folmar was the 1998 PSAC East Freshman of the Year and a hall of fame inductee in 2013. Drew Gallardy is a 2010 graduate of Shippensburg and takes over for Mark Maciejewski, who retired after 15 years leading the Raiders. Gallardy was most recently the team’s offensive coordinator in 2025 and was the defensive coordinator at Alfred State before returning to Ship in 2024. Shippensburg defensive coordinator Mike Burket has been with Shippensburg for 25 years while offensive coordinator Brayden Long is in his second season as an assistant and first as OC after his stellar career with Slippery Rock completed in 2024. Long was a Harlon Hill Trophy finalist as a senior.

GAME STORYLINES
- Millersville's defensive numbers are skewed because of the week three game against Slippery Rock, a team that has scored at least 41 points in all five games its played. Last week, Millersville held Shepherd to just 14 points through nearly three full quarters after holding West Chester to three points through three quarters. Fourth quarters, however, have been problematic as the Marauders have been outscored 52-15. On offense, the Marauders have totaled just 11 fourth quarter first downs in five games. The Marauders average better than 30 rushing yards in quarters one through three but have totaled just 39 yards and 1.6 yards per carry in the fourth. Opponents average just over 41 rushing yards in the first three quarters but average 59.8 yards in the fourth. Millersville boasts a solid red zone defense early in games, allowing just 11 touchdowns in 18 tries in quarters one through three, but opponents are 8 for 9 in the fourth.
- Youth is showing on offense. Not only have three freshmen offensive linemen started all five games, freshmen wide receivers have accounted for four of the team's five touchdown receptions. Jayden Walters leads the team with 219 yards and three touchdowns. Kyreek Bradshaw hauled in a 43-yard catch against Shepherd for his first career touchdown. With youth comes growing pains, however. Millersville ranks last in the PSAC with 100.2 rushing yards per game. Millersville rushed for 218 yards in the opener and totaled 173 against West Chester, but have rushed for 52 yards or fewer in the other three games.
- Millersville is also seeking stability at the QB position. Tommy Hunsicker was off to a strong start before suffering an injury in week two that has held him out the last three games. Ryan Zeltt was also injured in week one but has since returned to the lineup. Eddie Corkery started last week's game but left after the first quarter and did not return. Millersville is the only team in the PSAC to start three different quarterbacks this season. Only two teams in the conference have had two quarterbacks attempt at least 25 passes. Millersville has three quarterbacks with at least 31 pass attempts. Unable to find a rhythm in the pass game, Millersville's quarterbacks have thrown five interceptions compared to four touchdowns and the 5.5 yards per completion is the lowest in the PSAC. It won't be easy to get the pass game going against Shippensburg as the Raiders rank third in passing yards allowed. Opponents are completing just 51% of passes against the Raiders, and Shippensburg is one of six PSAC teams with at least 10 sacks. Shippensburg's defense also generated 11 turnovers in the first four games before coming up empty against Kutztown last week.
- Millersville's defense has picked off a pass in four of five games, and the Marauders have won the turnover battle three times. Last week at Shepherd, Max Hostetter recorded his second interception of the season. Bryce Beutler ranks second in the PSAC in tackles per game at 9.6, and he also has an interception. The defense, however, needs to find a way to get to the quarterback. Millersville has four total sacks. The good news for Millersville is that Shippensburg has struggled to pass protect, allowing a PSAC high 16 sacks.
- Despite struggling in pass protection, quarterback Roman Jensen has not thrown an interception since week two and now has six touchdown tosses compare to one INT. Jensen started his career at Maryland before landing at Shippensburg in the spring of 2026. Jensen has games of 266 yards, 257 yards and 275 yards this season. He's also completed passes of 61 and 74 yards, showing big-play ability.
- Shippensburg's defense is led by Nate Myers. Myers was named All-PSAC East and All-Super Region 1 in 2025. He had 10 tackles and an interception against the Marauders last season. He currently ranks third in the PSAC with 46 tackles.
SERIES HISTORY
- Shippensburg has won the last three meetings and 20 of the last 21 going back to 2001. Millersville snapped Ship's 17-game series winning streak in 2022 by a 17-14 final, but Ship has squeaked out the last three by scores of 13-7, 35-27 and 41-28. Last season's game was closer than the final score would indicate. Zeltt threw three touchdown passes and the Marauders returned a kickoff for a touchdown. A 77-yard TD catch from Nakhi Bullock put the score at 20-13 in the third quarter, and after a Shippensburg turnover, the Marauders drove into Ship territory before stalling. With Millersville unable to capitalize, Shippensburg pulled away. Zeltt completed 23 of 37 passes, utilizing 10 different receivers. Colin Hastings also caught a TD pass. Ship's Riley Gunnels passed for 412 yards and four touchdowns. In 2023, Millersville led 24-14 at the half before Ship rallied. Zeltt went 26 for 36 for 327 yards and two touchdown passes and an interception in that game. Sines was his top target, catching seven passes for 126 yards. Zeltt also played in the 2023 match-up but struggled against a stingy Ship defense, completing 7 of 24 passes for 79 yards
- Shippensburg has won 10 of the last 11 games played at Biemesderfer Stadium, but is just 13-8-1 all-time at the venue. Millersville dominated the series during the tenure of Dr. Gene Carpenter, going 15-3-1 between 1970 and 2000. The 1972 game played at Biemesderfer Stadium ended in a 0-0 tie. Folmar faced Shippensburg as Millersville's quarterback twice, beating the Raiders 37-27 at home in 1997 and 27-19 at home in 2000. Folmar threw three touchdown passes in the 2000 game.
