HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Millersville women's tennis team secured a comeback win against Albany State by winning four singles matches to take the dual, 4–3.
The Golden Rams were able to come out on top in doubles play, despite the best efforts from Sophie Lanius and Victoria Schrader. The duo put the Marauders in position to potentially secure the doubles point, winning their match 6–4 over Kennedy Talbert and Mykala Eckler, but Albany State won the other two matches.
However, the tide turned the Marauders way in singles play, hitting another gear to make up the ground necessary for the win. It started at the top of the lineup with Chloe Abramowitz defeating Jonay Brittain 1–6, 7–6, 1–0, and was followed up by Lauren Hayes beating Julie Tungamirai 6–3, 6–2. Lanius had a strong day, winning both of her matches as she bested Talbert in the five spot by the score of 6–4, 6–4. Carrying up the last spot of the starting lineup, Yasmin Scott took care of business against Eckler in a 6–0, 6–2 decision.
The Marauders improved to 4–4 overall with the win and wrap up their spring break trip going 2–1. Next up for Millersville is a dual against Wilmington at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19 at McComsey Tennis Courts.
