GAME STORYLINES
- Millersville advances to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2021, when the Marauders finished as PSAC Tournament runner-up. After three seasons of falling short of the fifth-place threshold, the team has finally broken through to return to postseason play. Millersville has won four of its last five games and aims to carry that momentum into its matchup against Slippery Rock.
- Leading the offensive front, Aubrey Strohecker has been a standout performer, tallying 10 goals in the regular season and adding another in the tournament’s opening round. Alongside her, senior Isabel Coy a two-time All-PSAC Second Team honoree and has been instrumental in creating scoring opportunities, contributing four goals while anchoring the attack. Sophomore Lia Francis has also made a major impact, scoring five goals this season and providing leadership in the midfield.
- In goal, Sabrina Zimmerman has been the Marauders’ primary starter throughout the 2025 season. The senior returned to action in Wednesday’s loss over Shepherd after missing two weeks with a hand injury. She has earned five victories this year and looks to secure her sixth on Tuesday. On the defensive end, Melanie Love continues to anchor the back line and leads the team in minutes played, playing a vital role in containing opposing offenses, especially against a strong Slippery Rock attack.
- No. 25 Slippery Rock enters the PSAC Tournament riding a wave of confidence. The Rock finished the regular season with a 12-3-1 record, securing the No. 1 seed in the PSAC Western Division and qualifying for the tournament for the 15th consecutive year. Last season, Slippery Rock advanced to the PSAC semifinals before being eliminated by eventual champion Shepherd. This year, they look to make their first championship appearance since 2019—their most recent title run.
- Offensively, Slippery Rock is led by Marissa Salisbury, who has tallied eight goals and five assists, followed closely by Abby Paterline with six goals and four assists. Slippery Rock features a balanced attack, boasting 10 different goal scorers this season, seven of whom have scored multiple times.
- Defensively, Slippery Rock has been dominant, posting eight shutouts in their last 13 games. Goalkeeper Leah Allman has been a key factor in that success, starting every match while recording 53 saves and allowing just 14 goals all season.
- The winner of tonight’s match will advance to the semifinals, where they’ll face either IUP or Kutztown on Friday at West Chester University.
SERIES HISTORY
- Millersville and Slippery Rock have faced off since 1994, with the Marauders last meeting the Rock in 2018, falling 2–1. Historically, Millersville has struggled in the matchup, winning only five of the 26 contests between the two programs. The Marauders’ most recent victories came in back-to-back seasons in 2014 and 2015. As they prepare for tomorrow’s matchup, the question remains—can Millersville end its 10-year winless streak against Slippery Rock?
