
Marauders run 5k and 6k at Cantello Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Marauders competed in both the 5,000- and 6,000-meter race at the Cantello Invitational, taking third and seventh place respectively.
Millersville divided its runners across the two races, as Morgan Janiuk finished with the best individual result, coming in 12th with a time of 23:00.70 in the 6,000-meter. Behind her was Bri Pollock (24:14.20) in 31st place, Emily Massage (24:52.90) in 45th, Marissa Mounce (25:10.50) in 50th, Emilea Alleman (25:22.40) in 51stplace, Olivia Sunderland (25:24.60) in 52nd, and Abby Bond (25:30.40) rounding out the group in 54th. The group finished with 181 points, putting them in seventh place out of the 10-team field.
"It was a challenging course today with some very strong competition, but we still had good performances from our athletes," head coach Andy Young said. "Morgan Janiuk had a good race, finishing 12th overall in the 6,000-meter, and there was a great pack running in both the 5,000- and 6,000-meter."
In the 5,000-meter, Caley Kuestner led the way for the Marauders with an 16th place finish and a time of 22:47.79. The Marauders were close together behind her, with Emma Armstrong (22:54.26) trailing just behind in 17th, and Maggie Chernich (23:45.50) right there as well with an 18th place finish. The other four Marauders scoring for Millersville were Nadia Frydlewicz (23:53.67) in 20th, Ava Pagano (23:56.16) in 21st, Brynne Metz (24:02.42) in 22nd, and Morgan Klaiss (24:07.52) in 23rd place. Millersville ended with 65 points in the smaller field of just three teams.

The Marauders next meet is at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 in Kutztown, Pa. at the DII/DIII Challenge.
