MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — In its first race since Sept. 26, the Millersville University women's cross country team top three other area teams to win Thursday's F&M Invitational.
Millersville scored 24 points, finishing ahead of Franklin & Marshall (34), Lebanon Valley (90) and Lancaster Bible (107), led by Bri Pollock's runner-up finish in 18:43.0.
Pollock led the Marauders in second place, followed by Kiera Reider in third at 18:43.6 and Kira Chebishev in fourth at 19:27.1. Delaney Schoeneberger added a seventh-place finish in 20:07.7.
The race was a late addition to the schedule after last week's Paul Short Run was canceled. For most of the team's top runners, including Pollock, Reider, Chebishev, Schoeneberger, Bella Ruefle and Armstrong, it was their first competitive race in more than a month.
"We just needed to race especially for the group that got canceled out of the Paul Short Run last week," said Millersville head coach Andy Young. "I'm glad we got out there and competed well but I also know we need to tighten up our top five runners a bit in order to be competitive in the coming championships."
